Mrs. Sutherlands Cookies

During the Second World War, my Grandmother Sutherland, like most young women with growing families, was left to raise her 3 daughters, as her husband went first to Britain, then Europe. Like many young men he was anxious to fight to guarantee our freedom, from Hitler's Nazi regime.Her strength and long hours working kept the girls together.

I include this little bit of information, to illustrate that no matter what culture our background is, we all share one thing; we have each watched as women hold families together, manage finances, and then work when they get home from work.

It is in this vein that I am proud to hold my Grandma's Shortbread, for you to share. What a gal she was...
